Acura ILX

The ILX is Acura’s salvo in the entry-luxury compact market. A 150-hp 2.0-liter four is matched to a five-speed automatic in the base car; a hybrid model links a 1.5-liter four with a CVT and an electric motor. We prefer the optional 201-hp 2.4-liter four available only with a six-speed manual. Steering is light and precise, but the comfort-tuned suspension wilts when the road gets twisty. The interior feels cheap; the seats are uncomfortable for long distances. Overall, the ILX leaves us cold.
